Biography: Wing half and former Chesterfield and Portsmouth captain. His football career straddled the First World War, during which time he became a sergeant with the Royal Sussex regiment. After a spell as first team coach at Chesterfield, Abbott returned to Portsmouth where he worked in the dockyard during WW2. Died of cancer on 26th September 1947.
