Biography: Allen retired through injury in 1995 and returned to Wales where he became a coach and a television pundit for Welsh Channels Sgorio and Sgorio Cymru. In 2006 he appeared in court in Watford for assault charges and in 2008 he was handed a suspended sentence for drink driving offences. He released his autobiograpy in 2009.

Malcolm Allen While Malcolm was at Newcastle he got banned for drink driving. I used to watch the team train in Durham at the time and was a van driver. I saw him at the bus stop after training so gave him a lift home in the works van. He was very grateful.
