Biography: A lifelong United fan, he progressed through the ranks and made his debut in a League Cup tie with Swindon Town. His second and final game, was a defeat at Leicester City. He joined Preston North End for a then club record £500,000 at the end of the 1996- 1997 season. Michael retired from football in 2003 from a serious knee injury.He returned to West Bromwich Albion to become the club's Academy Manager, before moving on to Reserve Team Manager and then First Team Coach. Became manager at Portsmouth in 2011, Blackpool in 2012, Blackburn Rovers in 2013, Oxford United in 2014 and Assistant Manager at Leicester City in 2017.
