Archer, John When he was at Crewe his nickname was "Dan", which was the name of a leading character in the BBC Radio drama, The Archers. He had a ferocious right foot and scored some cracking goals direct from free-kicks. He was also quite a character and (I could be wrong here, I was only a nipper at the time) but I seem to remember he did what is very rare on a football field. He often played with a smile on his face.

Archer, John Renowned for his corner kicks which he aimed onto the head of Tom Fenoughty standing at the front of the penalty area.TF then flicked the ball over the heads of the defenders to the far side of the area where Ernie Moss was then waiting to pounce.


Archer, John Saw John score a great goal in the FA Cup against Arsenal at Dean Court.. Later discovered that he had lost toes on the foot that he scored with.
