Biography: Lived in Blackpool, worked as a journalist and could often be heard on Radio sports programmes until ill health forced him to retire. Also worked as a consultant to the Football Association. Appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2010 New Year's Honours list for services to the community in Lancashire. Died in January 2018 due to the return of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, which he had successfully fended off previously. He was 82.
