Biography: Despite having to have stitches above his eye during his Pompey debut, Bill went on to play over 100 games before the outbreak of World War Two. He was awarded an FA Cup winners medal in 1939 when he was first reserve despite playing in the first four rounds of the cup. During the war he worked as a storeman at Portsmouth Dockyard. Died in 1976 while on holiday in Scotland.
