Biography: One of the few men to have bridged both sides of the bitter south coast divide. He played for Pompey for three years part time whilst working as a motor engineer. A consistent performer, he joined Southampton as a way of staying in the game and once again played on a part time basis, training at Fratton Park and only meeting up with his team-mates on match days. He missed only three games during his solitary season at The Dell, playing 27 times. He retired from the game in 1911 having contracted pneumonia and died just a few months later.
