Biography: A midfielder born 26 February 1946 in Hesleden County Durham. Colin Bell MBE began his career at Bury where he scored 25 goals in 82 League games before making the move to Manchester City where he became legendary along with Summerbee and Lee during what is still arguably Man City??s most successful period. Bell went on to score a massive 117 goals in 394 League appearances from midfield, He was nicknamed Nijinsky after the famous racehorse an apt name for such a thoroughbred player. In 1968 he helped City to win the league championship on the final day of the season at Newcastle and a year later, he was part of the FA Cup winning side as the blues beat Leicester City 1-0 at Wembley. Bell also won 48 England caps scoring 9 goals. Sadly Bell severely injured his right knee against Manchester United in 1975 in a challenge with Martin Buchan during a League Cup match at Maine Road, which effectively ended his playing career. He has since worked with the youth team and been a club ambassador and also had a stand named after him
