Biography: A Welsh international Half-back, was playing in the Cheshire County League when he wrote to Manchester United to request a trial. He went straight into the reserves and helped them win the Central League. He was signed to understudy Clarence Hilditch and his league debut ended in a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Everton in August 1921. He became popular with the crowd and was a regular in the first team for 11 seasons but he rejected United's terms for the 1932-1933 season and joined Burnley on a free transfer. Retiring in 1934, he joined the Turf Moor coaching staff and held the post of trainer until being forced to retire through ill health in February 1964, four years after the club won the League Championship. He remained in the town until his death in March 1968, aged 72.
