Biography: Moved south to join Sunderland, but made more of an impression during six years at Norwich. Eventually returned to Scotland. Held various positions within the licensing trade before becoming a partner in a taxi firm his native Dumbarton.

Black, Alan Alan worked with my dad, John at Westclox when he was a youngster. Alan was very kind and each time he came home from Sunderland and subsequently, Norwich, he brought me memorabilia. To a primary school boy, this was gold. He is a lovely, kind man. Everyone where I lived was very proud of how successful he was. I hope he is well.
