Biography: Joined Manchester United after losing his place in the Blades side, but he couldn't hold down a regular spot at Old Trafford. His longest run in the team came after Jimmy Hanson broke his leg on Christmas Day 1929. He left to became player manager of Northampton and then had a spell as manager of Midland League Scarborough before becoming a publican, north of Middlesbrough.
