Biography: In his first three seasons at Old Trafford, Manchester United were promoted twice and relegated once. It wasn't until the 1938-1939 season that he managed to dislodge Tommy Breen from the first team, and then three games into his second season, League football was suspended after the outbreak of World War Two. He continued to play for United through the War years until Jack Crompton took over in peace time. Went into management with Halifax after leaving Turf Moor and scouted for Bradford City before managing Bradford Park Avenue. Based in Leeds, he scouted for the local club. He died in 1977, aged 70.
