Biography: Joined United straight from school and had the misfortune to concede six goals on the debut against Leicester City. He then let in seven on his third appearance and found his chances limited afterwards by Harry Gregg and Dave Gaskell, and when United signed amateur Mike Pinner, his days at the club were numbered. He settled in Bristol, firstly in Frenchay and then Stapleton. He worked in insurance, construction and then security before his death from lung cancer in August 2008, aged 65.

Briggs, Ronnie Worked with Ron in security we played snooker some nights in Eastville where alfie biggs used to play im 67 now and still a huge bristol rovers fan he used to call me storming norman a good guy

Briggs, Ronnie I can vaguely remember playing football outside in the street with him in Belfast during a visit to his home. Apparently the family didn't want him to sign for Man U. He was my 2nd cousin and my father was asked to try and persuade him not to go.
