Biography: One of two new goalkeepers brought in by Manchester United for the 1908 title winning season but only saw action in nine games and very few reserve games. As a result, Herbert looked for a move to Hyde Road at the end of the season. Was secretary of the Players' Union in its inception, was a landscape gardener by trade but went into business painting and decorating in Northwich.
