Birthplace: Openshaw, Manchester

Position: Left-back

Biography: A full back who saw his career cut short by a serious knee injury, he was one of a host of City players to move to United in December 1906. He won a League Championship medal in 1908, only to have to quit the game within two years. He ran a pub near Old Trafford after retiring before embarking on a coaching career that took in Hungary, Spain, Austria, Denmark and Sweden. He died in Manchester in July 1954, aged 70.
