Burnett, Dennis In 1967 Dennis Burnett moved to Millwall from West Ham United for £15,000, where he made over 250 appearances, taking over the captaincy when ever Harry Cripps was injured, A renowned hard-tackling defender, he became synonymous in the 1971 team which failed to gain promotion by a point to Birmingham City. Manager Benny Fenton had galvanized a promotion winning team of Bryan King; Brian Brown, Alan Dorney, Dennis Burnett, Barry Kitchener, Harry Cripps; Doug Allder, Eamon Dunphy, Gordon Bolland; Keith Weller, Derek Possee. Many onlookers say if Millwall had have been promoted that year, it would have changed the history of the club.
