Biography: Francis moved south of the border in 1965 and his six years at United would have been more productive had it not been for repeated injury problems. He was a regular starter until losing his place to Shay Brennan. He played the first seven games in United's European Cup winning campaign, he was a cultured defender but was sold to Southampton for £50,000. Francis emigrated to Australia in 1987 and went on to run dry cleaning and industrial cleaning businesses in Perth. He now works for a local radio station.
