Birthplace: Darlington, County Durham

Position: Centre-forward

Biography: Manchester United war time guest. He played the second half of the 1941-1944 season and the first games of the following season, scoring in his final game for the club against Blackburn Rovers. Became a legendary manager with Everton leading them to two League titles. He died of a heart attack less than an hour after watching Everton play Ipswich in an FA Cup quarter final in March 1985. He was 65.
