Biography: Islaeli defender who joined Liverpool in 1979 from Maccabi Tel Aviv for £200,000. Once risked the wrath offellow Jews by playing a game ion Yom Kippur. However, this did not stop him being picked to appear for his country 51 times and ultimately ending his playing career back in Israel. Sadly, Avi died in a motorbike accident in December 2010 but not before he had appeared in the Israeli version of Dancing with the Stars and become the Chairman of the Israel Professional Footballers Association.
