Biography: A 41-cap Republic of Ireland international, Connolly - a much travelled veteran - moved down the Solent to Pompey after XX seasons at Southampton before finishing his career with a loan spell at Oxford and then AFC Wimbledon. Connolly played for Ireland in the 2002 World Cup as his nation reached the knockout stages before a penalty shootout defeat to Spain.
