Cook, Maurice Good times in the 'Odds'.

Cook, Maurice We were playing on Berko Town Ground for the Under18s. Maurice was standing just about on the halfway line. The ball bounced towards him, he lifted his foot, made connection and the ball soared up, up in the air, and dropped down into our opponents goal. Maurice collapsed on the ground with laughter. I think we were playing Watford Under 18s at the time. We had a cracking team that year. Maurice scored 105 goals. We won every match in the league and would have won the County Cup if Maurice hadn't broken his wrist. Without him, we lost to St Albans City at home and drew with them away. Happy days. You're missed, Maurice.

Cook, Maurice I met Maurice in his 70’s through his wonderful former wife, Joan and beautiful sister-in-law, Gwen. One day when all is ladies were playing golf, Maurice joined us on the course and unbeknownst to us, Maurice had been collecting golf balls in the undergrowth, he staggered across the fairway with such a funny crooked walk, he had us all in stitches, then it became clear that the massive pregnant bulge under his jumper were about 100 golf balls, every single step he took, a few more balls fell to the floor so he was hemorrhaging balls all the way across to us, we were in hysterics and by the time he got us, he had no balls left to give us!

Cook, Maurice He was ever the joker and once whilst in my company and a few other supporters he said when he was playing that all players got a different pay deal with the club during the close season and they had to go into the boardroom to negotiate it for themselves (no agents then) . So Johnny Haynes went in and got ????29 per week close season wages and mauricepromptly went in after and was offered ????22 per week , he smartly told the board that he Knew haynes had got ????29 so why was he offered ????22 they then told him Haynes was a better player , so Maurice promptly replied ' not in the close season he isn't '
