Cramb, Colin Colin used to ask us to let him play football with us when he was a lad. Nothing unusual about that you say but there was 2 remarkable things about playing football with us !! Our group that played were all around 14-15 years old. Colin was about 5 or 6 !!

So an age gap of about 9-10 years seems a little unfair for a 5-6 year old.

What makes this story even more extraordinary was that Colin had calipers fitted on his legs for a good few years when he was young. To his absolute great credit his disability or age difference did not in the least deter him. Yes, he did used to lose his balance and fall over a lot and yes not only the age gap but the size and strength of the bigger lads certainly did not put Colin off playing. His persistence and perseverance along with a lot of guts and a big heart made Colin the player he became. A great career and a tremendous achievement to be the only player to have played in the 4 x Scottish & 4 x English football league divisions. Well done Colin. Proud of you son. Your big pal John Brown.
