Davies, Ron Ron and his family used to live opposite me and I would spend a lot of time with his boys Nigel and Stuart. Always a cheerful happy guy so sorry to have just found out about his passing. RIP

Davies, Ron I was 16years old and at Itchen college Southampton at the time when I met Ron Davies .I was doing a project in Woolston as part of my course work, when Ron approached me with his young daughter. He asked me if I knew where he could buy some fishing bait, ”Yes” I replied, So I took him to a house a little further down the road,,,,He knocked on the door and within a couple of minutes he had bought himself some rag worm to go fishing with...He thanked me,but as he turned away,I took a sneaky chance and asked him if I could go and watch him fish with his daughter,,,To my amazement he said yes! I spent the rest of the afternoon on his boat, watching him fish and talking about his career,,,The next day at college my tutor was furious with me for not doing my project,,,I thought to myself, ”Fishing” with Big Ron ( my Saints Idol) or doing my project,it was a “no brainer”!!!...I shared that story with Paul Bennett ( Ex Saints)..I worked for Paul for many years at the Eastpoint Centre in Thornhill,,,where I had many conversations with Hughie Fisher ( Ex Saints) who was working as a Brewery Rep after his playing days were over,Happy memories of Big Ron who is sadly no longer with us!!

Davies, Ron Ron was superb for Luton. Fantastic in the air, (he could float), great movement, a proven goal scorer! When I heard he was likely to leave LT, I wrote to him and pleaded with him to stay! I was at school then & unaware of commercial realities!
