Birthplace: Birkenhead, Cheshire

Position: Centre-forward

Biography: One of the games greatest ever players took a pub, The Dublin Packet, in 1946, which he gave up 15 years later. Went onto work for John Moores' pools empire as a security man. Finally retiring to Babington in 1971. Died at Goodison Park, Everton in 1980 aged 73. (Scored 60 league goals, another 19 in representative matches and three in the FA Cup, making an incredible haul of 82 in 1927-28).
