Clubs played for: Celtic, Manchester United, Aberdeen, Falkirk, Derry City, Cork Athletic, Elgin City (1933-1957)
Born: 1914
Birthplace: Cleland, Scotland
Position: Outside-right
Biography: Some observers had believed that he was a suspect purchase when United bought him from Celtic for £4,500 in 1946. However, he proved them all wrong by speeding down the flank in a red shirt for five full years, winning a FA Cup winner's medal and a League Championship title. He only missed a handful of games before returning north of the border to join Aberdeen and remarkably played on until the age of 43, despite repeated leg injuries. After retiring, he moved back to his native Cleland in Scotland where he worked as a general labourer before landing a job working in the Ravenscraig Steel Works. He died from cancer in September 1989.
