Rory Delap

Clubs played for: Carlisle United, Derby County, Southampton, Sunderland, Stoke City, Barnsley, Burton Albion (1992-2013)

Born: 1976

Birthplace: Sutton Coldfield

Position: Midfielder

Biography: A Republic of Ireland midfielder with 11 caps joined Southampton from Derby County, although he only scored five goals in his five years with Saints several of them were quite memorable, also prone to giving away penaltys due to his totally commited style of playing. He is probably best known for having a very effective long throw (he was also a schoolboy javelin champion) which has become an integral part of current club Stoke City's attacking arsenal.
