Birthplace: Lochgilphead, Argyll, Scotland

Position: Forward

Biography: Signed from Scottish outfit Third Lanark for £4,000, with Arsenal, Portsmouth and Newcastle United on his trail. He struggled to make an impact despite scoring 14 goals in 36 games, and went to Hillsborough in exchange for Jack Bell. He started his working life as a trawler fisherman but after finishing his career with Third Lanark, he returned to his home village of Lochilphead where he worked in the countryside. A well- known public speaker during his playing career, he died in January 1982.
