Dick Duckworth

Birthplace: Collyhurst, Manchester

Position: Right-half

Biography: One of United's greatest pre-Great War players, was spotted after scoring twice against United's reserves, switched to the Half-back line and went on to win two League Championships and a FA Cup. Part of the famous Duckworth, Charles Roberts and Alec Bell Half-back line. A serious knee injury ended his career in 1913 but he stayed on the club's books for another two seasons. He ran a series of pubs in Manchester, Bury, Royton, Castleton, Edenfield and Bacup. He lost his FA Cup winner's medal in his pub in Edenfield but it was found 20 years later in some rubble at the back of the pub and returned to him.
