Farrimond, Syd I first met Syd when early in the 74/75 season. Halifax had a shortage of fit players and myself along with 2 other amateurs played in the reserves to help out. We played over 20 games (full amateurs). Syd was always there looking after us and was very appreciative of all the lads. Frankly, he like Johnny Quinn was far too nice for football management and I never saw him lose his temper. His passion was football and I would like to say thank you for the opportunity he gave us to play at professional level. Take care

Farrimond, Syd Syd and I both attended Hindley and Abram Grammar School. He is older than me but I will always remember being in the Minotaur house football team of which Syd was the captain. He gave me lots of praise for my efforts and was very supportive.
When I got married we came to live in the same area and he would always stop for a chat. If I saw him at the Reebok, he would seem genuinely glad to see you.
A lovely man and a very good full back.

Farrimond, Syd I remember Syd vividly playing in 60's & 70's.He was one of Bolton's most consistent players in my early years as a supporter .He had a swift turn of speed , and no wingers got the better of "Syd". I remember Syd & Olive having the Newsagents on Chapel Street Leigh .My mother in Law Kate lived across the road .Graham Kate's husband took my two sons Gareth and Stuart (Bolton fans ) across to Syd to receive his Signiture .We still have his Signiture and a match with mine which a acquired 50 years ago when I was a similar age To Gareth my eldest son.
My one regret is I didn't have a conversation with Syd about his football career at Bolton .I was too star struck to speak seriously !! I believe he his a every friendly and nice man and I hope he stays safe and well .He is a legend to me .When I worked at Townsend Cycles in Leigh in Mid 90's he used to run from his car/van to deliver the newspapers from his Shop !! he was in his mid fifties still fit to run !! Happy Memories Kindest
