Position: Right-back

Biography: Became a 'Mr Reliable' following his £2.2 million switch from Barcelona. An Olympic Gold medallist, he was part of the first ever Chelsea team to qualify for the Champions League but did miss out on two FA Cup Final appearances through injury and non selection. He retired at the age of 33 in May 2003 when his contract expired. Disappeared from view for a few years but is now regularly seen on Sky as a pundit for their coverage of Spanish football.
