Position: Striker

Biography: A Greek goalscorer who had been top scorer in both Greece and Germany but was never really given a chance to show what he could do at Fratton Park. He had been brought in from German football by Tony Adams but his successor Paul Hart was reluctant to give the Greek a start. Gekas only managed one substitute appearance (which lasted less than a minute) before being released in May 2009. He returned to Bayer Leverkusen who have since lent him to German rivals Hertha Berlin. Played for Greece in the 2010 World Cup.
