Paul Anthony Gilchrist

Paul Anthony Gilchrist

Clubs played for: Charlton Athletic, Doncaster Rovers , Southampton, Portsmouth, Swindon Town, Hereford United (1968-1980)

Born: 1951

Birthplace: Dartford

Position: Forward

Biography: Essex born Gilchrist was a member of Southampton's 1976 FA Cup winning side but this probably contributed to his inability to settle at Fratton Park. With the crowd turning on him at every opportunity even though the whole team was struggling at the time, he was probably relieved when Swindon Town gave him an escape route at the end of the 1977-8 season. He later ran a health and fitness club in the Wiltshire town, but now works for B.M.W. in Redhill, Sussex as a service advisor and lives in a village close to Tunbridge Wells.
