Gray, Bob I am 75 now and Bob lived over the back garden to me in Poplar Crescent, Dunston. He was a lovely guy. Later on, I worked at the local garage and fixed his car. For many years he lived at the top of Dunston in Park Avenue.

Gray, Bob BOBBY GRAY was a magnificent goalkeeper and if playing today would have walked into many Premiership teams. There was a maximum wage in his days and like his mate Tom Callender, wanted by Everton, but neither of them could leave Gateshead for the same wage and move their families into another part of England. They were both loved and adored on Tyneside. RIP Bobby....I also remember the Tottenham match the last of the Gateshead FA Cup runs in reaching The Quarter Finals. Prior to that run they had played WBA at Newcastle on a Wednesday afternoon with 38,000 at the game. The run in 1952/3 included wins at home to Liverpool and away wins at Hull and Plymouth and my Dad saw the games. Bobby played in all of those games and was rewarded with a representative match in goal for The 3rd Division North against The 3rd Division South [as they were in those days]....RIP Bobby you were one of the best....GEORGE ALBERTS

Gray, Bob I remember Gateshead playing Spurs in the FA Cup (Alf Ramsey in Spurs team ) and Spurs won 2 -0. Johnny brooks scored the Spurs' goals and Bobby let one of the goals go through his arms and legs and into the goal. Just heard that Bobby has passed away aged 98. Very sad.
