A FA Cup winner against Liverpool in 1977, he was sold by Dave Sexton to Leeds United in 1979 for a fee of £350,000 after a string of injuries interrupted his career. After retiring, he lived in Rochdale and worked as a sales representative for a sports goods wholesalers, William Lindop Sports. Now retired and living in Spain.
