Biography: Joined United as an associate schoolboy in 1972 before signing apprentice forms in April 1974. He signed professional forms in December, the same year. His debut came against Brentford in the second round of the League Cup in September 1975. A month later he made his only league appearance as a sub in a win over Leeds United at Elland Road. But a broken leg against Aston Villa in a Central Lane game kept him out of action for two seasons and ended any hopes of a professional career. Is now a policeman with the Greater Manchester Police.

Grimshaw, Tony I worked with Tony as a 16 year old in 1980-83. We played 5 a side on Fridays after work at Moss Side leisure . Always wanted to be on his side because he could have won 5 v 1 . Hope you are well Tony
