Biography: A guest for the Blues during their two Football League Cup South finals during World War Two and signed on a permanent basis for £8,000 as soon as peace was announced. He gave the club superb service which saw him part of the 1955 Championship winning team. Left for Chester in 1956 were he became player boss, then moved onto Sheffield United for two spells in the hot seat on either side of stints as general manager and chief scout. Moved across the town to coach Sheffield Wednesday before retiring. Later became a lay preacher and died in Yorkshire in July 1988 aged 71.
