Biography: After spending three years working as an engineering apprentice he turned professional in 1960. Highly rated by Matt Busby who had several chances to sell him, despite Haydock only being a fringe player all offers were rejected. In 1963, Charlton Athletic were successful with a £10,000 bid and he played the rest of his career in the south for Athletic, Portsmouth and Southend.. Is now retired after spending many years working as an hotelier in Blackpool.
