Position: Centre-half/Left-back/Centre-forward

Biography: Originally from the 'Potteries' Basil played 349 league games for local league side Port Vale before spending two years with Pompey. Became player-manager at Yeovil Town, managed non-league Bedford, Gillingham, and Telford United before becoming chief scout at Norwich City and then scout at Gillingham. He also played county cricket for Staffordshire as a left-arm medium pace bowler. Died on 9th December 1989 aged 61.
