Hickton, John Remember seeing John play at Bramall Lane Sheffield for Chesterfield schoolboys against Sheffield schoolboys. He took a penalty and hit it do hard it broke the net. Played with him at Brimington school and he was a colossus. Could head the ball over half the length of the pitch.his younger brother Ray also played professional football but not as well.

Hickton, John Saw John make his debut for BORO in a 3-2 win against Workington Town 1966-67 , Town were winning 2-0 at one time & riding high in the then third division, BORO just recently relegated were struggling at the lower end of the division, this result dramatically changed both sides fortunes, John scored a penalty, BORO were promoted, town relegated & have struggled ever since. I took an instant liking to John & has been my favourite BORO player ever since.
