Birthplace: Buxton, Derbyshire

Position: Centre-back

Biography: His father, John Higgins, was part of the Bolton Wanderers team that beat United in the 1958 FA Cup Final. He had retired after a successful career with Everton but came out of retirement to join United in a £60,000 deal in December 1985 but he didn't last long, only playing a handful of games before Sir Alex Ferguson took over and sold him to Bury for a cut price £10,000. He became director of sales at Buxton Spa Bakeries in Derbyshire but is still a regular visitor to Goodison Park.
