George Hilsdon

Position: Striker

Biography: Was said to have been London's first football star, scored five goals on is debut against Glossop North End, and his 27 goals in his first season helped the club win promotion to the First Division. Scored six goals in the Blues record 9-1 FA Cup victory against Worksop Town. His legend lived on at the club for many years following his departure, a statuette of a footballer modelled on him decorated a weather vane on the roof of a stand at the North End of Stamford Bridge. Joined Fred Karno's troop in 1924, later he lived in East Ham and scraped a living. Died in Leicester in 1941 following his evacuation from the capital. His funeral was attended by only four people and no stone marks his grave in Wigston cemetery, Leicester.
