Hollywood, Dennis Hi Dennis. I was captain for Mayfield and Ilford when you played. I believe you were left half (old money). Phil Clarke and you were from Loxford. I did watch you when Southampton came to West Ham. I was on West Ham books until the age of 18 but didn’t quite make the standard. Regards

Hollywood, Dennis Hi Dennis. You and I, Loxford School football team along with Phil Clarke, Jimmy Nunn and others, I met many years later the Chairman of Southampton team and we spoke about how we both remembered you, and he surprised me. Would like to talk to you after so many years but very few more. Kind regards.

Hollywood, Dennis I remember a crucial game at the Dell against Man City. The ball was fed out early to Mike Summerbee on the wing. You reached him before the ball and he played no further part in the game.

Hollywood, Dennis Hello Dennis. We had some hard players that could give it as well as take it. I remember we were playing Chelsea and you took Bobby Tambling out. I worked in the docks at 201 berth and you were in the stores. I reminded you of the incident and you said he niggled you throughout the game. I hope you are well and enjoying retirement.

Hollywood, Dennis I loved watching you Dennis, back in the times when footballers were hard men, not the types of players we have today, although I still follow and and watch the Saints. I had the joy of playing with you in our 5 a side team in the docks, all the best Ray (works yard)

Hollywood, Dennis Wish I could have seen my uncle Denis play. By the comments on this and various other sites he divided opinion but on the whole he seemed to be a very hard but fair player during an era when the game was much more physical and played on pitches that resembled ploughed fields at times. Most teams back then had a smattering of players in their ranks that were prepared to mix it when required and Denis was most definitely one of those in Southampton’s colours.

HOLLYWOOD, Dennis Dennis Hollywood. My favourite all time Saints player. Tough as old boots, hard as nails and one of the most feared defenders in football.
