Biography: Played over 500 league games in his 16 year career. Worked for British Coal Building dept in his native Barnsley after spending many years as joiner.(Second Division Championship medal with Ipswich)

Houghton, Billy Billy was apprentice joiner at Lisle Smith and Lisle in Barnsley . He played for England in Spain bringing back a lovely sword shaped paper knife for my Tom Smith my Godfather .

Houghton, Billy After Billy stopped playing he bought a papershop on the high street in Wombwell. I was a paperboy for him for several years and he had lots of great stories from his playing days.
