Biography: Howey retired in 2005, and had a short spell as manager of non-league Crook Town. He then moved to Middlesbrough as a youth team coach before coming out of retirement to play for Bishop Auckland in a role as player-coach. He now co-presents Total Sport on BBC Radio Newcastle.
