Percy Humphreys

Birthplace: Cambridge

Position: Inside right

Biography: A strong inside forward who was signed for £350 but left the club almost as soon as Vivian Woodward joined in December 1909 and signed for Spurs. He also had the last laugh by scoring the goal that relegated his former employers on the last day of the same season. Managed Hartlepool and then Swiss side FC Basel but he was forced to return home just months after signing a three year deal after the outbreak of World War One. Became a car checker, and lived in retirement in Stepney, East London, until he killed himself in April 1959 aged 78.
