He could play in central defence, full back, midfield or even up front and made a goal-scoring debut against Leicester City. Was part of the Division Two title winning squad, but largely in a supporting role. In the First Division, he played alongside Graham Roberts and Ken Monkou and won rave reviews. Won a Full Members Cup winner's medal but his career stagnated until Paul Elliott was injured. Featured in the League Cup Final win over in 1998 but was allowed to leave on a free transfer to move back to his native Bristol, joining Rovers. David is now a full time development coach with Bristol City FC overseeing the 18-21 year-olds.
