Luscombe, Lee My father Lee Luscombe was banned from playing football for six months in 1996. He was playing 5 a side football at Beau Sejour leisure centre in Guernsey 1994 while under contract with Millwall. The GFA (Guernsey Football Association) waited two years until he signed for local side Port City as a favour for a good friend John Reid even though he was travelling to Brighton & Hove Albion for a trial where the then manager and former team mate Jimmy Case offered my father a two year contract but before my father signed for Brighton the GFA held a meeting and decided to give my father a six month ban for swearing twice at local referee Johnny Mallet. The hearing was rushed through so my father or Johnny Reid were not present. Seven GFA members sat at a table. Six voted no to the ban but one, Dave Dorey, voted to ban my father for something in the UK he would of probably got a yellow card or at worst red and a three game ban . The ban was totally unnecessary and cost my father his career due to the fact he was involved with a collision with a dog while training at Ports Soif (Rovers AC) soon after the ban expired which caused cartilage damage. This was not a complicated operation so my father asked the surgeon Dr Pring just to look into the damage as my father wanted to go back to Southampton and use the Southampton surgeon as Pring had a bad reputation. He asked could he just examine the damage but Pring just went ahead and operated. Unfortunately, he did a bad job and my father never played professional football due to the botched operation. This story has never been told but is 100\% true
