Anthony Macken

Clubs played for: Glentoran, Waterford, Derby County, Portsmouth, Washington Diplomats , Dallas Tornado, Walsall, Drogheda United, Waterford United, Home Farm (1968-1988)

Born: 1950

Birthplace: Dublin, Ireland

Position: Right-back

Biography: Irishman whose career seemed to be like one big ping pong match. He started in Southern Ireland playing for Home Farm and Waterford - two clubs that he later went on to manage. Even his two spells with Pompey were from Derby, back to Derby, to Pompey and back to Derby again! The same pattern was repeated with two stints in America for Washington Diplomats (with one appearance for Derby in between). Walsall did manage to hold on to him for four years and almost 200 appearances before he set sail to manage a number of clubs in his homeland. He won the League Cup with Drogehdra United and was assistant manager to Ray Treacy when Shamrock Rovers won the League Championship in 1993/94.
