Position: Wing-half

Biography: Steady performer picked up from non- league Blyth Spartans, he was recommended to Sir Matt Busby after being spotted playing services football in Italy, and he became his second ever signing. He was regular Left-back until cartilage trouble kept him out of action. He became Outside-left after Charlie Mitten left for Bogota, but after slipping into the reserves he was sold to Lincoln City in 1952 for £8,000. He lived in Manchester until retiring to Lincolnshire, where he died in December 1999.
