Position: Defender

Biography: Already an experienced Scottish international when United paid Leeds £495,000 for his services in February 1978, a month after Dave Sexton had been shopping at Elland Road for Joe Jordan. The 6ft 3in defender provided the club with seven years of invaluable service before being given a free transfer in 1985, by which time he'd scored in the 1979 FA Cup Final defeat to Arsenal. He was a Wembley winner four years later against Brighton, having lost in the League Cup Final earlier the same season. Managed Airdrie and worked for STV, before becoming reserve team coach at Middlesbrough. Then returned to television as a pundit on Sky Sports, is currently living in Hutton Rudby in North Yorkshire and works as an assistant scout at the Riverside.
